Conventional Chiller Evaporator CFD


 

This video is from a model of a conventional shell and tube chiller evaporator.  The outlet (to compressor) and the inlet (from condenser) are both in the center.  The liquid refrigerant covers the bottom of the shell.  The animation shows the speed and development of velocity flow vectors to the outlet.  These vectors suggest that heat exchange is not uniform.

We have designed an alternative that preliminary analyses have greatly improved the uniformity and surface contact area of the tubes.  When patent drawings are completed and we have patent pending we will post it to the site.  Stay Tuned!
